Comfortable, but stuck?
You’re good at what you do. On paper, things look fine. But it’s taking more effort, force, and energy than it should. You try quick fixes and pushing harder, yet it still feels like a skier that keeps skiing the same hill the same hard way—you always get down, but it feels harder than it needs to be.
I work with mid‑career and senior professionals who are competent, trusted, and starting to feel “comfortable, but stuck.”
You’re not broken, and you don’t need a full reinvention—just like a skier taking a lesson, we’ll recalibrate the skills and strengths you already have so they work for you, not against you.
A “HOW” Session is :
A complimentary 45‑minute debrief using the “Saboteur Assessment” so you can see what’s really driving the stuckness and what to do next.
I help comfortable‑but‑stuck mid‑career and senior professionals—and their teams—move from overthinking, over‑effort, and quiet frustration.
To clearer decisions, calmer leadership, and more sustainable follow‑through, by focusing on HOW, not just what.
Clients I work with often notice:
Fewer overthinking loops and less self‑criticism in key moments.
Clearer decisions, especially under pressure.
More consistent follow‑through without having to push so hard.
Release the Hounds is all about 3 HOWs
Helping Others Win
We start with your definition of winning—individually or as a team—and design everything around that. Your goals, your terms.
Honest, Open, Willing
I create a space where you can be honest with yourself (and each other). From that honesty comes openness to new possibilities, and a genuine willingness—your choice, not mine—to make meaningful changes.
Habits Over Willpower
The real secret is building simple, sustainable habits from this new understanding and way of being. Instead of pushing harder, you change the way you move—so progress lasts, even when the hill, terrain, or conditions get tougher.
Think of it like a ski lesson. You’re already getting down the hill, but with a few hidden habits that make everything harder. A quick tip is a bandaid. A small shift at the foundation—how you stand, where you look—changes every run. Coaching with me works the same way: we change the underlying ‘technique’ of how you meet your life, so everything starts to feel smoother and more efficient.
Is this you (or your team)?
You’re competent and comfortable, but you sense you’ve quietly stopped growing.
You’re working harder than you should have to, and it’s wearing on you.
You want real change, but the idea of “reinventing everything” feels exhausting.
About Release the Hounds (and Me)
I’m Steve Hancock, a coach, instructor, and long‑time people‑developer who helps comfortable‑but‑stuck professionals recalibrate the strengths they already have so work and life feel smoother, lighter, and more aligned with what really matters to them.
Release the Hounds Coaching is about helping accomplished, comfortable‑but‑stuck professionals set their strengths free from their inner critic and default reactions that work against them—what I call Saboteurs—so they move from stress and striving to more ease, clarity, and flow.
At its core, Release the Hounds is about serving you: Helping You Win, on your terms. Every step is powered by what’s already great within you—just waiting to be released.
I’ve always been wired to help people grow and perform at their best. That led me to study psychology and business management at university, and later pursue professional coaching credentials—so I could turn that impulse to help into practical tools my clients can actually use. For more than 35 years I’ve worked as an instructor, trainer, manager, and coach, focused on developing people and creating exceptional guest experiences.
Release the Hounds Coaching is intentionally named. It’s about two kinds of freedom: releasing yourself from the ‘hounds’ of inner patterns and mental habits that work against you—what I call Saboteurs—and recalibrating your existing strengths so they’re guided by your wiser, calmer side (your Sage) instead of by those Saboteurs.
You keep the drive, empathy, and competence you’ve already built—without the negative side‑effects of overwork, pressure, or self‑doubt— and let those strengths run free toward what matters most.
Experience Your HOW: Complimentary Saboteur Debrief Session
In this complimentary (45 minute) HOW session, we’ll use your Saboteur Assessment to:
Highlight the inner critics and mental habits that keep you comfortable‑but‑stuck (what I call Saboteurs).
Explore how these Saboteurs show up in your real life or work—and what they cost you.
Begin to connect with your calmer, wiser side (what I call your Sage).
Reclaim the original strengths underneath your Saboteurs, without the negative by‑products.
Paint a picture of what life could look like when those strengths are guided by Sage and supported by habits, not willpower.
You’ll leave with a clearer map of what’s really going on behind the scenes and what it would look like to work together on the HOW.
